What Can I Do To Reduce My Chances Of Having A Miscarriage?

Miscarriages can be devastating for someone who is excited about the birth of their child. Nutrition and hormonal balance can greatly decrease the risk of having a miscarriage. In today's world of fast food, heavily processed foods and microwavable foods, it can be difficult to get the nutrition we need to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

One of the places we can start is to decrease the amount of animal products we are consuming every day. When I had my midwife practice, I would strongly encourage my mothers to make at least half of their diet fresh, live fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. This is an easy thing to do if we focus on fruit in the morning and vegetables in the afternoon. For instance, we could have fresh fruit or a smoothie or fresh juice for breakfast. Then, snack on fruit throughout the morning. Breakfast is called break-fast because we are breaking our fast. It has been at least 12 hours since the last time we had anything to eat. Fruit is one of the easiest things for the body to digest, so it would make sense to wake up to fresh, organic fruit.

For lunch, we could have a big salad made from dark greens with vegetables, nuts, and seeds added to it. Then, snack on veggies throughout the afternoon. By doing this – even if we have a traditional dinner – we have made half of our diet fresh, live food. We build life with life! It is important to get the live enzymes and energy generated by living foods. Along with live food, it is important to get the right fats and trace minerals in our diet and lots of fresh, pure water. It is amazing how much better we can feel and how our bodies will respond just by following these simple suggestions.

We also mentioned hormonal imbalances. Many women suffer from the symptoms of hormonal imbalances such as:

  • Irregular cycles

  • Hair loss

  • PMS

  • Heavy bleeding

  • Weight gain

  • Infertility

  • Miscarriages

  • Moodiness

  • Acne, etc.

Nutrition, movement, and stress levels play a significant role in how our hormones function. Here are five natural tips you can take to boost your hormone health and increase your chances of having a healthy pregnancy.

  1. Take two wheat germ oil capsules daily. In particular, wheat germ is rich in B-vitamins and vitamin E. It also has iron in it, which you need to make extra blood during pregnancy.

  2. Exercise - walk a mile daily. It's one of the last things we feel like doing but it’s important. It releases endorphins. Exercises like walking each day can help relieve stress. We tend to breathe deeper and take more oxygen into the cellular level when we exercise. These deep breaths help us to feel calm.

  3. Drink liquid chlorophyll. The nutritional level associated with chlorella, has confirmed the tag of being a super food. It contains proteins with all of the naturally occurring amino acids, and it also contains significant amounts of vitamins A and C, as well as folic acid, vitamin B-12, calcium, zinc, iron and other vitamins and minerals that will support overall health during your pregnancy.

  4. Lower the amount of stress on your life. Schedule quiet time into the day. If we fail to plan, we plan to fail. Take time to meditate, take a yoga class, do something to manage the stress level.

  5. Drink enough water. For a woman that’s at least 3 quarts (96 oz or 12 8oz glasses of water) a day.

Miscarriage is a difficult thing to go through, but with proper nutrition, exercise, plenty of fresh water to drink and a positive outlook, it is possible to carry a pregnancy through to a happy outcome even after multiple miscarriages.
