Breathe Easy This Spring

Spring is just around the corner! As the trees and flowers begin to emerge, we can’t get over how beautiful and alive everything looks. While our eyes light up at the sight, we also know how frustrating this time can be as plants start to release pollen and dust into the air. Luckily, there are many natural ways we can use to support our respiratory system and breathe deeply!

Natural Respiratory Aids

1. Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an age-old Chinese practice where thin needles are inserted at specific vital points of the body to influence the cell and send signals to the brain. While evidence is limited, many claim that acupuncture can do wonders for our respiratory system!  For best results, start treatments a couple of months before the spring season begins.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

You probably know apple cider vinegar for all of its amazing health benefits, but did you know supporting healthy respiration was one of them*? Add 2-4 tsps into a warm cup of tea or water and drink it whenever you need some help.

3. Essential Oils

Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil in a bowl of boiling water and drape a towel over your head. Breathe in the vapor and feel your airways expand. You can also create a blend of lemon, lavender and peppermint essential oil to support breathing. Simply add equal drops of each into a roller bottle with a carrier oil and roll it over the bridge of your nose.

4. Herbs

Herbs such as Echinacea, Nettle, Peppermint, Elecampane and Fenugreek are great for supporting respiratory symptoms and helping you breathe deeply.* Two of our favorite products to help with environmental irritants are Breath Easy and Respiratory Aid.* These herbal blends help support your sinuses, breathing, immune system, and lung function making sure you can handle anything.*

6.Local Honey

Consuming local honey is a great way to expose yourself to the pollen in your area and help your body adapt to it.

7. Steam Showers

Pollen sticks  to your clothes, skin and hair - so it’s essential to wash your clothes and take a shower to prevent spreading it throughout your house. A steam shower can help you breathe deeply. Try hanging fresh eucalyptus leaves to the neck of the shower head and breathe in the scent and steam.
